Redevelopment is now picking up pace in Pune. Pune has multiple areas which were developed 30-40 years ago and now are prime localities in Pune. As a result, more and more societies are now opting for redevelopment.

But the most important question remains in everybody’s mind is – how should we legally initiate a discussion on redevelopment and take action towards redevelopment initiate.

Below are the steps to initiate and take preliminary decisions on redevelopment.

  • Minimum 20% of registered members within a society can make a written application to the committee or the society committee should itself call a special common meeting for redevelopment
  • Minimum 75% of members is required to attend this special meeting
  • Managing committee or the people who have submitted the application need to explain the basic idea of redevelopment and put forward the advantages and disadvantages of redevelopment
  • The members should then pass the resolution for redevelopment with minimum signatures of 51% from the members present at the meeting
  • After passing the resolution, the members need to appoint a committee for redevelopment and provide them with necessary rights for redevelopment.
